Pinch, Punch, Zip, Zapped

These next two weeks will be the most intense of my short preparation for my "Welcome to being 55" meet in 31 days. Today was my fifth day in the water, notching up just shy of 15K meters over that time , so I was feeling a bit sore even when I started, made all the more so by a fairly intense weightlifting session yesterday morning.


It's been a long time since I actually blogged about a main set I often do, my ZipFizz 200s set, so I wanted to try it on the original intervals I used to go on before we moved to Canada. After a brief 1,100 yard warmup, I jumped right into it ... making the intervals, but just barely so!


Main set - ZipFizz 200s (2,400 set)

  • 5 x 200: on 2:20, make them

    • My best ever performance ranged from 2:05 to 2019 in 2015

    • January 2018 - 2:10, 2:10, 2:11, 2:09, 2:08

    • 03-01-2022 - 2:15, 2:16, 2:16, 2:16, 2:18 (ouch)

  • 4 x 50: active recovery on 0:45, 0:50, 0:55, 1:30

  • 3 x 200: on 2:45, descend swim

    • January 2018 - 2:15, 2:11, 2:06

    • 03-01-2022 - 2:24, 2:18, 2:15

  • 4 x 50: active recovery on 0:45, 0:50, 0:55, 1:45

  • 1 x 200: on 3:00, fast

    • My best ever was a 1:58 done back in October of 2015

    • January 2018 - 2:04

    • 03-01-2022 - 2:11

  • 4 x 50: active recovery on 0:45, 0:50, 0:55, 1:45

Not great, but not bad all things considered.
