Recovering for the 3K

9 November 2022

I have to remember how much racing takes out of me. I was feeling a bit better this morning, now ~3 days since Sunday's racing, but still kept the volume shorter as I want to feel fresh for Friday's 3,000 yard virtual race. I had done some yoga at home first and thenwore my FINIS Smart Goggles to get a few times on today's 2,200 yard effort:

  • 1 x 300: fly-back-free by 100, kick-drill by 25

  • 3 x 100: on 1:20, free gentle descend with a snorkel

  • 3 x 100: on 1:45, dolphin-flutter kick on back, gentle descend

  • 6 x "50": on 1:00, 25 strong - 25 easy, 2 times through fly back free

    • Fly was 15.8 then 15.4

    • Back was 16.4 then 15.9

    • Free was 14.0 then 15.9

  • 1 x 50: easy

  • 1 x 400: kick for time - 5:56.8 with a nice negative split (3:01.0, 2:55.8)

  • 1 x 50: easy

  • 1 x 25 - 50 - 75 - 100: on about 0:20 rest, trying to get into the right pace for the 3K

    • 16.5, 31.5, 47.2, 1:03.4

    • Felt better, but way too fast for the 3k

  • 5 x 50: active recovery on 0:40, 0:45, 0:50, 0:55

I'll do something similar tomorrow, then see what I can produce on Friday!
